Her passion for children dates back to her choice of profession: twenty years ago she worked towards earning a Degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia while also working full time as a Youth Worker for PLEA Community Services, mentoring young people in the foster care system.
She took her education a degree higher: She completed a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology through The University of Chicago between 2001 and 2004 while also starting her family.
Upon moving to Calgary in 2006, Tasha worked full-time as a counsellor for AADAC (Alberta Alcohol & Drug Abuse Centre) in adolescent drug and alcohol treatment, gaining a deeper understanding of addiction and how it affects the entire family. She reduced to part-time in order to care for her growing family: She worked as a Play Therapist at Discovery House Family Violence Prevention and later The Alex Youth Health Center to focus on supporting young people with Depression, Anxiety and Trauma issues.
In 2010 she started a small private practice while also working towards the highest level of certification available in Alberta: in 2014 she became a Registered Psychologist with the Alberta College of Psychologist and formed her practice Tasha Belix Pyschology Ltd. Tasha is also the founder and Director of B’tween Girls Programs. A therapeutic group offered to girls aged 8-15 who are Super Feelers and need help coping with the stresses of everyday life. B’tween Girls also has an 8-week program offered to school, designed for grades 4,5 & 6. For more information visit www.btweengirls.ca. In addition to all of this Tasha contributes to the mentoring program for girls called Fast and Female. A program where acclaimed female athletes help support young girls and encourage confidence and well being through sporting activities. Last but not least, Tasha is a co-author of a book called ‘What do you do with a feeling’ due to be published in November 2018.

Since the completion of her BA degree in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counselling, Melissa now grounds her therapeutic approach in an emotionally focused and insight-based orientation. Her therapeutic work begins with getting curious about what may be underneath the symptoms to get to the root of the concerns. She loves working with teens and provides validation and support while helping them realize their potential and create healthy connections. Melissa also works with parents to help strengthen the parent-child relationship and empower parents to be what their children need.
As a Registered Psychologist, Melissa is lucky to work alongside a supervisor while attaining her registration hours. When Melissa is not at work, she loves spending quality time with those she loves, getting outside, and curling up at home with a good book on a rainy day.

My approach is rooted in building authentic connections and providing compassionate, tailored support to help clients navigate challenges and create meaningful change. Whether it’s helping a child build self-confidence, guiding a teen through anxiety or life transitions, or supporting a family in navigating complex dynamics, my approach is always client-centred.
My Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology focused on therapeutic techniques and client support, while my PhD in Industrial-Organizational Psychology deepened my understanding of interpersonal and group dynamics. I also have specialized training in Family Systems and Child and Adolescent Development, equipping me to address the unique needs of children, teens, and families.
My absolute passion is helping children, teens, and families build stronger bonds and find their path forward is deeply rewarding. I use a blend of evidence-based approaches tailored to the needs of children, adolescents, and families. My work integrates attachment-based therapy, which strengthens connections and promotes trust, and family systems approaches to address dynamics that may affect the entire family unit.
Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my two cats and a dog), exploring nature, and immersing myself in great stories through books. I’m here to help! Together, we’ll create a path forward that reflects your goals, values, and strengths.

I work with clients navigating neurodiversity (ADHD, high functioning autism), anxiety, depression, perfectionism, parenting support, social skills, life transitions such as conscious uncoupling, and communication difficulties within relationships. I offer a warm and supportive space for teens, young adults, women, and families, helping them build resilience and develop healthier coping strategies.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working in a variety of settings - from the hands-on world of construction to the analytical realm of psychometric assessment, and now in therapy. While each of these roles is distinct, the common thread that has driven me in every phase of my professional journey is an innate curiosity to understand the underlying dynamics that influence ‘why we do what we do’, ‘say what we say’, and ‘feel what we feel’.
When I am not at work, you can find me enjoying time with my family playing board games, cheering on my kids at their sports activities, or taking long walks with my dog, Snoopy. These moments of connection keep me grounded and inspired both in my professional and personal life.
