Calgary Psychologist - Tasha Belix

Tasha Belix

Tasha Belix MA, Director, Author, Speaker

As a Registered Psychologist practicing in Calgary, Alberta, she has a passion for working with children, adolescents and families. As a mother of three girls and a Brownie leader, she is particularly interested in creating opportunities for girls where they can gain a deeper understanding of their inner strengths and develop into leaders.
Her passion for children dates back to her choice of profession: twenty years ago she worked towards earning a Degree in Psychology from the University of British Columbia while also working full time as a Youth Worker for PLEA Community Services, mentoring young people in the foster care system.
She took her education a degree higher: She completed a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology through The University of Chicago between 2001 and 2004 while also starting her family.
Upon moving to Calgary in 2006, Tasha worked full-time as a counsellor for AADAC (Alberta Alcohol & Drug Abuse Centre) in adolescent drug and alcohol treatment, gaining a deeper understanding of addiction and how it affects the entire family. She reduced to part-time in order to care for her growing family: She worked as a Play Therapist at Discovery House Family Violence Prevention and later The Alex Youth Health Center to focus on supporting young people with Depression, Anxiety and Trauma issues.
In 2010 she started a small private practice while also working towards the highest level of certification available in Alberta: in 2014 she became a Registered Psychologist with the Alberta College of Psychologist and formed her practice Tasha Belix Pyschology Ltd. Tasha is also the founder and Director of B’tween Girls Programs. A therapeutic group offered to girls aged 8-15 who are Super Feelers and need help coping with the stresses of everyday life. B’tween Girls also has an 8-week program offered to school, designed for grades 4,5 & 6. For more information visit www.btweengirls.ca. In addition to all of this Tasha contributes to the mentoring program for girls called Fast and Female. A program where acclaimed female athletes help support young girls and encourage confidence and well being through sporting activities. Last but not least, Tasha is a co-author of a book called ‘What do you do with a feeling’ due to be published in November 2018.

Melissa Watson

Registered Psychologist

Melissa has always had a passion for learning about the human experience and what drives people’s behaviours. In particular, the impacts and importance of healthy attachments, relationships, and restoring connection to oneself.

Since the completion of her BA degree in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counselling, Melissa now grounds her therapeutic approach in an emotionally focused and insight-based orientation. Her therapeutic work begins with getting curious about what may be underneath the symptoms to get to the root of the concerns. She loves working with teens and provides validation and support while helping them realize their potential and create healthy connections. Melissa also works with parents to help strengthen the parent-child relationship and empower parents to be what their children need.

As a Registered Psychologist, Melissa is lucky to work alongside a supervisor while attaining her registration hours. When Melissa is not at work, she loves spending quality time with those she loves, getting outside, and curling up at home with a good book on a rainy day.

Melanie Badour MC

Registered Psychologist

I’m Mel, a registered psychologist passionately working with girls and young women (13-25 yrs of age). I have a keen interest in helping individuals struggling with anxiety, emotional regulation, perfectionism & performance issues. I like to build confidence, clarity & courage. Learn to tackle avoidance, procrastination, self-doubt, try new things, calm anxiety, befriend mistakes, manage your self-critic, and regulate big emotions. We all have insecurities and can learn to better communicate and strive for our own personal excellence. My goal is for you to better understand yourself and your connection to others!

I started my career as a teacher and for 12 years I taught Grades 6-12 in Canada and overseas. I now provide counselling and consultation services within schools and private practice. I have a keen interest helping those struggling with relationships, transition/change, perfectionism, anxiety, depression and self-harm. My approach is creative, eclectic, and trauma-informed. I use a variety of evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing).

On a more personal note, when I’m not at work…you can find me walking with my husband, getting creative in the kitchen, enjoying a local music event or travelling to remote places. When I don’t think anyone is watching…you might find me blasting music and dancing for my dog;)
